We met up with Sarah & Amir for an engagement session on July 16th in the DUMBO neighborhood of Brooklyn, New York.
DUMBO isn’t the easiest place for us to shoot, especially on a Sunday, but of course, as NYC photographers, we were up for the challenge. Because of how crowded it can get, we recommend our couples schedule their DUMBO or Brooklyn Bridge photography sessions at the break of dawn.
Once we got there, it was all about getting to know Sarah and Amir and finding their photographic style. Before our session, we had a brief conversation over the phone to talk with them about the portrait session. But the engagement session was truly the “get to know you” session that we needed ahead of the wedding.
That’s why we always recommend to our couples that they schedule an engagement session before their wedding. It’s important to get to know the wedding photographer who will be covering one of the most important days of your life. And it’s important to us, too, to get a feel for how you like to be posed, what kind of angles we should use, and what you are most comfortable doing in front of the camera. This is a time for us to get used to each other so that by the time the wedding rolls around, it’s second nature.
With Sarah and Amir, the day was all about capturing them in the moment. Sure, they were easy to pose, but it was those candid moments that truly allowed them to shine. That was great, as it meant we only had to give them some scenarios to play out and then step back and capture them just being themselves.
Thank you, Sarah & Amir, for choosing us as your photographers for this exciting time in your lives. Congratulations #JaWeddingofthecentury
